White Bear Foot & Ankle Clinic is excited to welcome Dr. Lucas Ahlquist to our podiatry team. A Minnesota native with advanced surgical training from one of the country’s top academic medical centers, Dr. Ahlquist treats everything from routine foot care to complex reconstruction, trauma, and diabetic limb preservation. He’s now seeing patients at our White Bear Lake office.
Where Did Dr. Ahlquist Study?
Dr. Ahlquist grew up in Bemidji, MN on a small horse farm. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Minnesota, with minors in the history of science and medicine and in public health.
From there, he moved to the Cleveland area to attend Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree. Kent State’s podiatric program is one of only eleven accredited colleges of podiatric medicine in the United States, and it emphasizes hands-on clinical training alongside a strong biomedical science foundation.
What Does Dr. Ahlquist Specialize In?
After earning his DPM, Dr. Ahlquist completed his residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. Wexner Medical Center is consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report, giving Dr. Ahlquist exposure to a wide range of complex cases during his training.
He treats patients across the full scope of podiatric medicine, including:
- Routine foot and ankle care
- Advanced foot and ankle reconstruction
- Trauma
- Diabetic limb preservation
Whether you’re dealing with a stubborn heel pain issue, recovering from a foot or ankle injury, or managing diabetic foot complications, Dr. Ahlquist has the training and clinical range to help.
A Minnesota Native Who Knows the Community
Dr. Ahlquist isn’t just bringing strong credentials back to Minnesota. He grew up on a horse farm in Bemidji, so he understands the active, outdoor-oriented lifestyle that’s common in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.
Outside the clinic, he’s a long-distance runner, a cook, and still spends time with his horses. When the weather cooperates, you’ll find him out on the lake.
